MEET OUR MUSE: EVE LYNN CHRUST

Meet Eve Lynn Chrust. You may have seen her as one of our incredible teachers on The MAT, or sweating it out and breathing in good vibes on her instagram and workout classes. Eve has committed her mind, body, and spirit to raising the vibration of her family, community, and most importantly, herself. She is a fierce advocate that when you nourish yourself with healthy movement, food, and thoughts, you will be your happiest and healthiest self. As a busy mom, Eve shares that you can give the world the best and brightest version of YOU when you fill your cup up first. Q: What is your history with movement? 

I started practicing yoga in college. My roommate was diagnosed with alopecia and started seeing a holistic doctor who recommended we (yep, we, I was fully on the journey with her to support) ate only organic, drank lots of bone broth, and practiced vinyasa. So we did! I fell in love with yoga, having never been an athlete or connected with movement it was clearly a pathway for me between mind and body that I needed.

 

Q: What mantra do you live by? Any new mantras of the moment? 

Ah so tough, so many! I often say in class: Let Yes Be Your Mantra. I believe in the power of positivity and manifesting. A real, fake it til you make it attitude. If we will ourselves the lives we want, that lifestyle starts to seep in. If we focus on the negativities in our lives (we all have them in bundles!) we will manifest more of that negativity into existence. If we focus on the YES, the positive, the goals, the dreams, it takes up more space in our lives and that attitude starts to prevail.

 

Q: How do you align your mind, body, and spirit? 

Movement. My seated meditation practice has come and gone for years (#momlife), but movement has always been meditative time for me. When we focus on the way we move, there is no space for the swirling thoughts that otherwise plague us. We come off our mats feeling clearer so we can conquer our lives with more clarity. The same issues are on the table, the difference is we can problem solve from a more rational space.

 

Q: How does exercise influence your daily life? 

It IS my life, LOL. As physically challenging as it is, I am super grateful my job is to move (and move with people). It is SO healing and daily life needs daily healing. On days I don't move I feel sluggish, headachy, tired. I have learned, that for my body, daily movement, even 10 minutes, makes a world of difference in my mood and attitude. I am a better mom, partner, and instructor when I move daily!

  

Q: What is your greatest life lesson? Any lessons learned from the past year?  

Ay! So many! I think the most important thing I have learned is to control what I can and let go of what I can't. If we focus on what we cannot control we are stuck. If we go to where the water is flowing, we thrive.

If 2020 & 2021 have taught us anything, it is that there is ALWAYS opportunity, but you have to be the type of person who chooses to see it. Both my self and my business has grown tremendously since the world forced us all to slow down and reevaluate how we were living. I took the time to reset priorities, dig deeper into who I wanted to be, and reformulate my plan to getting there. It has paid off in multitudes. Most importantly, me and my kids are closer than ever. My now fiancé and I problem solve better than ever. And we have a puppy now which just makes everything happier ;).

 

Q: How has movement helped your mental health throughout your life, and especially this last year? 

I think this speaks to what I mentioned above about movement being my form of meditation. I can walk into a workout scathing and walk out wanting to tell everyone how much I love them.. Endorphins are a powerful drug!

 

Q: As a coach and teacher, what is your favorite way to connect with your community? 

I honestly don't have a favorite way. Any form of connection is powerful. A hug feels amazing, but so does a heart-pouring over DM!

 

Q: How do you practice self-love and self-acceptance? 

I think this is a work in progress. I believe in order to be a good parent you have to lead by example. Teaching my children to respect themselves can only be taught by showing them, not telling them. You can only truly give fully when you are full yourself.

 

Q: If you had one piece of advice for women, what would it be?

 AH! Just one?! Hmmm...I honestly think it's less about loving yourself than KNOWING yourself. Once you know who you truly are, unencumbered, non-biased, true, you can walk into the world with confidence. It is just harder to be a woman in this world than it is to be a man. I am very acutely aware of this raising two daughters. I want them to be strong and soft. Stubborn and kind. Definitive about WHO they are.
